Auswest can assemble aluminium into pool and garden style fencing and gates and slat type fencing and gates. Aluminium has a specific application due to its low maintenance, durability, resistance to rust and low weight factor making it easy to handle, install and maintain. Slat type styles are usually applied in aesthetical, not security situations. Using round tube, aluminium can be used as pool and garden fencing, typically up to 1.5m high and/or between pillars. In wider and higher applications aluminium will need strengthening to suit your purpose.
Aluminium slat fencing and gates are recent innovations to the Australian market. Aluminium is proving exceptionally attractive for use in residential situations because it is durable, light, low maintenance, ease of installation, has a range of colour and grain finishes and is readily available. It is not a solid security type of material that can replace either steel or wrought iron for strength. It has a smooth ‘mill’ finish for flat colour application that typically matches house trim such as window framework. Or a timber grain finish to reflect natural timber without the timber maintenance.
A timber grain finish with a slat size of 65x15x1.6mm at 5-10mm spacings placed horizontally, is comparable in price and look to stained timber. Pine boards come in 70x19mm width in a dressed finish and are usually the basis of comparison to aluminium slat fencing.
Stock timber pattern finishes are currently: Western Red Cedar, Bush Cherry and Jarrah (you can see these in the photo gallery above or in our workshop in Beckenham).
Slat sizes come in 38x25mm, 65x16mm and 100x16mm.
