ALL OUR GATE FRAMES ARE WELDED WITH NO BANG TOGETHER JOINTS OR CLIPS. WELDING ADDS TO THE DURABILITY AND LONGEVITY OF YOUR PRODUCT
For aluminium tube designs, please refer to our Tube Fencing and Gates page.
Aluminium is versatile and very popular in modern fencing and gate applications because of its low maintenance, durability, resistance to corrosion and low weight factor making it easy to handle, install and maintain. Add to that some great timber pattern finishes and your pool pump enclosure or front fence now looks like a piece of timber that won't lose its colour!
Auswest can assemble aluminium into a huge range of products:
- pool and garden style fencing
- privacy screens
- planter box covers
- pool pump covers
- boundary slat fencing
- pedestrian gates
- automated sliding gates.
When using aluminium for a security purpose, it should be considered carefully due to the inherent softer quality of the aluminium compared with steel and some traditional timbers such as pine. It will need to be constructed specifically for your application. A span of 1.8m to 2.4m is maximal with aluminium in fencing and gate applications. Intermediate support is required to strengthen and make your product safe.
Using round tube, aluminium can be used as pool and garden fencing, typically up to 1.5m high and/or between pillars. Because aluminium has more flex than steel, pool fencing will have narrower centres between the vertical tubes to comply with pool regulations.
Aluminium is exceptionally attractive for use in residential situations because it is low maintenance and can be easily colour matched to typical house trim, such as window framework or guttering, or a timber finish to match a roller door or natural timber front door, without the timber maintenance.
A timber grain finish with a slat size of 65x15x1.6mm at 5-10mm spacings, placed horizontally, is comparable in price and look to stained or painted timber. Pine boards in best grade come in 68x19mm width in a dressed finish and are a typical comparison to aluminium slat fencing. Natural timber is noise suppressive and if you are enclosing a paved courtyard with colorbond and aluminium, you may like to consider natural timber or even a composite board for noise absorption.
Popular timber pattern finishes are: Western Red Cedar, Bush Cherry and Jarrah (you can see these in the photo gallery above or in our workshop in Beckenham).
Slat sizes typically come in 38x16mm, 65x16mm and 100x16mm.
Auswest can supply loose materials or assembled into panels and gates, with associated fence and gate hardware.
